SHANNON R. STEVENS
When I was in the 7th grade, my parents bought me a Canon AE-1 Program 35mm camera. I'm not sure what they were thinking but I carried that camera around with me constantly. All my allowance went to buying film and developing photos. I'm thankful because I was able to capture many memories growing up.
After high school, I attended the University of New Mexico and took basic photography courses. Developing my own photos in the darkroom was my favorite! The last year of college, my life took a different path. I got married, had a son and photography took a back seat to my family. My art went dormant for over 20 years.
Several years ago, I found myself in a casual conversation about photography. I realized how much I missed taking photos and the joy it brought me. An investment was made in new equipment and I was off and running!
Now I can't get enough. I absolutely LOVE taking photos! It's like waking up after a deep sleep. I love my art and the tremendous joy it brings! My favorite part is capturing the light in people. You see it it in their eyes and in their smiles.
Living in Laguna Pueblo has also afforded me the opportunity to take up landscape photography. Phenomenal vistas, endless clouds and the bright blue sky. All that color, light, shadow and perspective keep me and my camera on the move.
Thank you so much for visiting my website.
